454 I cannot tell why he, whom
angels worship But this I know, the skies will thrill with rapture,
Verse 1 And myriad, myriad human voices sing,
And earth to heav'n, and heav'n to earth, will
I cannot tell why he, whom angels worship, answer:
Should set his love upon the sons of men, Or 'At last the Saviour, Saviour of the world, is
why, as Shepherd, he should seek the King!' 4/4
wanderers, To bring them back, they know not
        how or when. HOME

But this I know, that he was born of Mary 455 Here I, am Lord
When Bethlehem's manger was his only home, Verse 1
And that he lived at Nazareth and laboured, I, the Lord of sea and sky
And so the Saviour, Saviour of the world, is I have heard my people cry, All who dwell in
come. 1/4 dark and sin My hand will save.

Verse 2 I who made the stars of night,
I cannot tell how silently he suffered, I will make their darkness bright, Who will bear
As with his peace he graced this place of tears, my light to them?
Or how his heart upon the Cross was broken, Whom can I send?
The crown of pain to three and thirty years.
                                                                CHORUS
But this I know, He heals the broken-hearted, Here I am Lord, Is it I lord,
And stays our sin, and calms our lurking fear, I have heard you calling in the night
And lifts the burden from the heavy laden, I will go Lord, If you lead me,
For yet the Saviour, Saviour of the world, is I will hold Your people in my heart. 1/3
        here. 2/4
                                                                Verse 2
Verse 3 I the Lord of sun and rain
I cannot tell how he will win the nations, I have borne my people's pain I have wept for
How he will claim his earthly heritage, How love of them They turn away.

Of East and West, of sinner and of sage. I will break their hearts of stone
Give them hearts for love alone I will speak my
But this I know, all flesh shall see his glory, word to them Whom shall I send?
And he shall reap the harvest he has sown,
And some glad day his sun shall shine in CHORUS
splendour, Here I am Lord, Is it I lord,
When he the Saviour, Saviour of the world, is I have heard you calling in the night
known. 3/4 I will go Lord, If you lead me,
I will hold Your people in my heart. 2/3
        Verse 4
I cannot tell how all the lands shall worship, Verse 3
When, at his bidding, every storm is stilled, I, the Lord of wind and flame,
Or who can say how great the jubilation I will tend the poor and lame I will set a feast
When men's and women's hearts with love are for them My hand will save.
        filled.
