Page 217 - Voices in Praise
P. 217

The open ear, O Lord, He never will forsake me,
        Alive and quick to hear Because he loves me so. 2/3

        Each whisper of thy word; Verse 3
        Like him to answer at thy call, To sing His love and mercy
        And to obey thee first of all.   3/5                    My sweetest songs i'll raise;
                                                                And Though I cannot see Him, I know he hears
        Verse 4                                                 my praise:
        O give me Samuel's heart,
        A lowly heart, that waits For he has kindly promised
        Where in thy house thou art That even I may go
                                                                To sing among His angels,
        Or watches at thy gates Because he loves me so. 3/3
        By day and night a heart that still HOME
        Moves at the breathing of thy will. 4/5
                                                                475 I think, when i read that
        Verse 5 sweet story of old
        O give me Samuel's mind,
        A sweet unmurmuring faith, Verse 1
        Obedient and resigned I think, when i read that sweet story of old,
                                                                When Jesus was here among men,
        To thee in life and death,
        That I may read with child-like eyes How he called little children as lambs to his fold,
        Truths that are hidden from the wise.   5/5             I should like to have been with them then;
        HOME
                                                                I wish that his hands had been placed on my
        474 I love to hear the story head, That his arms had been thrown around
                                                                me,
        Verse 1
        I love to hear the story And that I might have seen his kind look when
        Which angel voices tell, How once the king of he said :
        glory Let the little ones come unto Me! 1/3
        Came down on earth to dwell.
                                                                Verse 2
        I am both weak and sinful, But this I surely Yet still to his footstool in prayer I may go,
        know:                                                   And ask for a share in his love;
        The Lord came down to save me,
        Because he loved me so. 1/3 And if i now earnestly seek him below,
                                                                I shall see him and hear him above,
        Verse 2
        I'm glad my blessed Saviour In that beautiful place he is gone to prepare
        Was once a child like me,                               For all who are washed and forgiven;
        To show how pure and holy
        His little ones might be, And many dear children are gathering there,
                                                                For of such is the kingdom of heaven. 2/3
        And if I try to follow
        His footsteps here below, Verse 3

                                                         Return
