participated in interdisciplinary rounds while
Medical Center - others shadowed pharmacists and technicians
in the main pharmacy, the pharmacy satellite or
Emergency Department patient care units. Students were provided a high-
level overview of the technology used to facilitate
work flow and promote patient safety.

Students were exposed to a variety of careers in
the Emergency Department. They toured the ED
and engaged in a discussion detailing how the Medical Center -
department works. There was also a hands-on
demonstration and interactive skill stations. Radiology

Long Island Jewish Students participated in the diagnosis, simulation,
Medical Center - planning and delivery of a radiation therapy
treatment. All tests were performed in an
Industrial Engineering anthropomorphic phantom, with special attention
given to both the technical and administrative
aspects of the treatment.

Industrial Engineering is changing the landscape Long Island Jewish
of health care. Through fun-filled activities,
students learned about the various roles within Medical Center,
a hospital’s Quality Improvement Department.
Students were taught how these roles are shaping Valley Stream - Culinary

highlight of the experience was a gourmet lunch
prepared by the students with the help of the

pharmacy team to experience the day-to-day
operations of the pharmacy department and
