THE JEWISH HOME FAMILY
Second Century CAMPAIGN
12
Our Second Century project, and the campaign which supports it, will enable us to meet the challenges that lie ahead, and continue to succeed and transform The Jewish Home Family for the future.
PHASE I
We are very excited about moving forward with PHASE I of the project as we know that rehabilitation services have become increasingly important. Through physical, occupational and speech therapy, individuals of any age can improve not just their health but also their quality of life. Aging well is more than just growing older — it is growing older as well as possible.
The new Center for Rehabilitation Excellence offers us so much. We will be able to add new treatment modalities that cannot fit in the current space. We’ll even add key new services, including warm water aquatic therapy, which has been demonstrated to have tremendous positive impact on healing and joints. We’ll have room for outpatients as well, individuals who come to us directly for outpatient care and others who have been inpatients and want to continue with the therapists that they know and trust.
The other element of PHASE I is to build 60 new rooms for short-term rehab inpatients. These new rooms will offer the hospitality elements that our patients are requesting like private showers in every room and laundry facilities
that they, or their family members, can use. These new rooms will be divided into four units of 15 rooms each in a very residential looking two story building. A new ambulance entrance, centrally located between the new construction and the existing nursing home, will provide greater privacy for our patients and residents as well as ease of access for the ambulances and ambulettes so frequently used for transport.
PHASE II
PHASE II will follow the completion of this rehab expan- sion and will constitute a complete transformation of the nursing home. Working with the Green House Project, we will be incorporating their three core values — real home; meaningful life; empowered staff — into our future. Education and training are already underway and we will be implementing the concepts and philosophy immediately, before any building renovation is even undertaken. Renovating the existing long-term care units into small “Green House” households will complete Phase II, creating a long-term care experience that is better for residents, families and staff.
Your help and support have made our success possible, enabling this organization to exist, to change and to grow. It is your help that will enable us to succeed. It is your commitment that will light our way. Join us on this journey — to enhance the lives of our elders and provide ongoing and meaningful service to our community.
