Jennifer Reid, Professor of Religion,

Wins Prestigious Guggenheim Fellowship

Jennifer Reid has been named a 2015 Guggenheim Fellow by the John Simon
Guggenheim Memorial Foundaton. This prestgious award is given to mid-
career scholars for impressive career achievement and exceptonal promise
for future accomplishments.

Reid was selected for her research on indigenous peoples the world over
who are struggling for legal recogniton of their land claims, according to a
Portland Press Herald artcle. With the support of the fellowship, Reid intends to contnue with her research and
learn what role religious scholars can play in legal adjudicaton of indigenous land claims. Reid has previously
received a Maine Humanites Council / Natonal Endowment for the Arts grant. She is currently a researcher with
the Niwano Peace Foundaton’s New Archê & World Peace Project, Tokyo.
