     Ports in the Far Eastern Basin saw a 1.5% increase in freight turnover to 227.8mn tonnes, with dry cargo throughput rising by 3.5% to 154mn tonnes and bulk cargo throughput declining by 2.3% to 73.8mn tonnes.
The Caspian Basin saw the steepest decline in freight turnover, falling by 13.9% to 6mn tonnes, with bulk cargo throughput decreasing by 35.1% to 2.8mn tonnes and dry cargo throughput increasing by 21.3% to 3.2mn tonnes.
The Russian government issued two decrees allocating a total of RUB7.4bn ($107mn) to the development of the Northern Sea Route (SMP) and Rosneft’s Sever Bay oil terminal. This is part of the Vostok Oil project on the Taymir peninsula, which the government regards as a key element of its “pivot to the East.” Rosneft expects to eventually export 100mn tonnes of oil per year from Vostok and 30mn in 2024
Russian shipbuilders plan to build 260 civilian vessels in the period from 2023-2027, Deputy Prime Minister Denis Manturov said at a Cabinet meeting in January. "Our shipyards intend to build two hundred and sixty civilian vessels during the period from 2023 to 2027 within the framework of this order. This is a broad range of vessels of different purposes and deadweight. The greatest volume of orders is planned for cargo ships, such as tankers, container carriers, barges, tugs and bulk carriers, including in the Arctic class," Manturov said. A lot of work is planned to build the passenger fleet, including electrically driven vessels, fishing fleet and dredgers for waterways debottlenecking, the official added.
