The leader of Romania’s ruling Social Democratic Party (PSD) Liviu Dragnea was sentenced to three years and six months in prison for instigation to abuse of office on June 21.
Following the failed coup of July 2016, Erdogan’s huge popularity was brought home by nightly street demonstrations. Since then the still-in-effect state of emergency, with its massive purges, and the fast deteriorating economic situation have sown doubts about the president among voters.
The short answer is yes, he probably still will. The real question is how and when that victory will come.
