In addition, the US, China, and India are implementing policies and reforms aimed at the faster-than-expected deployment of renewables. “These technologies have already been growing rapidly, but the global energy crisis pushed them to a new acceleration phase. After all, countries seek to benefit from their advantages in the field of energy security," said IEA director Fatih Birol. In the next five years, the world will add as much green capacity as it had in the previous 20 years.
Urenco will supply Ukraine with enriched uranium beginning in 2026. Energoatom President Petro Kotin and Urenco Director Borys Shukhta have agreed on long-term cooperation to provide enriched uranium to Ukrainian nuclear power plants starting in 2026. According to Energoatom, Kotin and Shukhta also discussed increasing the supply of enriched uranium to Westinghouse to produce nuclear fuel for Ukrainian nuclear power plants in 2024-2025. Before that, on August 1, 2019, Energoatom and Urenco agreed on the supply of enriched uranium. In April 2022, the next stage of negotiations between the companies took place following Ukraine's complete rejection of Russian nuclear fuel.
