The EU Parliament voted in favor on Oct .17 of a proposal put forth by the Sweden Democrats European Conservatives & Reformists to hold a debate on adopting a resolution to recognize Russia as a state sponsor of terrorism 201 members voted in favor, 99 against, and another 61 abstained, European Pravda reported. The resolution is scheduled for a vote at the end of November.

Russia’s reportedly recruiting Afghan commandos to fight in Ukraine. Multiple Afghan military and security sources told Foreign Policy that members of Afghanistan’s National Army Commando Corps say they are being contacted with offers to join the Russian military to fight in Ukraine. Before the U.S. ceded Afghanistan to the Taliban in August 2021, the U.S. reportedly spent almost $90bn building the Afghan National defence and Security Forces. The commandos had been trained by U.S. Navy SEALs and the British Special Air Service.
A London High Court judge has lifted a temporary ban on work on a $50bn compensation the former owners of defunct oil company Yukos want Russia to redeem, and a new hearing may be held in October 2023. Reuters said that London's High Court lifted a temporary block on former investors in defunct oil group Yukos enforcing the $50bn arbitration award against Russia in order for the court to decide on a Russian challenge to its jurisdiction. The former owners will state that Russia has no immunity as the Dutch courts earlier decided against the country, the newswire said.
Russia has never considered and does not consider itself an enemy of the West, despite the ongoing conflict, Russian President Vladimir Putin said, speaking at the Valdai International Discussion Club plenary meeting on October 27.
"In current circumstances of brutal conflict - I will say some things straight - Russia, being an independent, self-sufficient civilization, has never considered and does not consider itself an enemy of the West," he said.
