India is aiming to increase exports to Russia after Modi-Putin meeting, Reuters says. "When we are looking at Russia, we are looking at how both countries can gain by better trade relationships," Indian Trade Secretary Sunil Barthwal said during a press conference.
Russia-US Trade Turnover Increased 1.5 Times in May. The driver of Russia's export growth was uranium, with the US purchasing a record $209.5mn worth—a 47% increase. On the import side, vaccines saw a 250% increase, with $15.6mn worth ordered from the US to Russia. The cost of uranium has surged by 250% following the imposition of sanctions—this is just one of the futures, with some positions experiencing a fivefold increase. The US is attempting to prohibit Europe from buying uranium from Russia, but so far, these efforts have only raised uranium prices, and it remains in high demand.
The trade turnover between Russia and China grew by 1.8% y/y in January-June, reaching $116.9bn, the Main Customs Administration of China said on Friday. According to the authority, Russian exports to China grew by 3.9%, to $65.2bn. Chinese exports to Russia, in turn, declined by 0.8%, to $51.7bn. Last year, trade turnover between Russia and China grew by 26.3% in 2023, to record-high $240.11bn. In 2022, the figure stood at $190bn, up by 29.3%.
