      DTEK: 90% of company's energy generating capacity lost due to Russian strikes. Russia has struck DTEK thermal power plants over 180 times, causing losses worth at least $350mn.
      Diamond exports from Russia in 2023 decreased by 12% to 32.4mn carats against 36.7mn carats a year earlier. The cost of supplies also decreased to almost $3.7bn compared to $3.87bn a year earlier, according to the Kimberley Process data. Diamond production in Russia fell to 37.3mn carats in the reporting period (-11% y/y). According to the organization, Russia accounted for 33% of world diamond production in 2023, Botswana - for 23%, Canada - for 14%, Angola - for 9% and the Republic of Congo - for 8%. At the same time, the largest exporter, according to the report, in 2023 was the United Arab Emirates (UAE) with a share of 30%, the European Union became the second largest exporter of diamonds with the share of 17%, while Russia accounted for 11% of global exports. The largest importer of diamonds in 2023 was India, with a 42% share of world imports (128mn carats).
Polyus is going to start construction at the Sukhoi Log goldfield in the Irkutsk Region in 2025, Vice President for Strategy and New Business Development Anton Rumyantsev said during the ESG Day of the company. "We are now dealing with infrastructural construction. We start preparing the site for key process facilities and I think we will begin the full-fledged construction as early as in the next year. We will finalize and announce process parameters of this project by that time," he said. Three major growth projects of Polyus - Sukhoi Log, Chertovo Koryto and Chulbatkan - will provide the company with extra threemn ounces of gold after achieving the design capacity, Rumyantsev said. "These projects can provide more than threemn ounces of produced gold after achieving the design capacity - this is essentially the second Polyus," the senior executive noted.
