to approximately 600mn cubic feet (17mn cubic
metres) per day of gas. At its peak, the field is
expected to deliver 900 mcf (25.5 mcm) per day
and approximately 30,000 barrels per day of
condensate. The onshore facilities – including
the new Raven facility – now have a total gas
processing capacity of around 1.4bn cubic feet
(40 mcm) per day of gas.
Wintershall Dea holds a 17.25% stake in
the West Nile Delta project, with BP owning
the remaining 82.75% as operator. The project
involves five fields in the North Alexandria and
West Mediterranean Deepwater offshore con-
cession blocks, delivered in three stages. The
first, Taurus/Libra, began production in March
2017, with the second, Giza/Fayoum, following
in February 2019.
Overall, the project involves 25 wells and
three deep water long distance subsea tiebacks
to the shore. The gas produced is for domestic
consumption.
Wintershall plans to start exploration shortly
in the onshore Nile Delta, near its Disouq field.
The company also operates the East Damanhour
block and will begin a drilling campaign involv-
ing several wells in 2021. Raven is one of five fields in the West Nile Delta project (Image: Wintershall)
