The leading players in Russia's booming e-commerce market, Wildberries and Ozon, have revealed impressive results for the first quarter of the year, with analysts suggesting that there is still significant room for growth. While these marketplaces currently account for 30% of online purchases in Russia, the Russian Online Retail Association (AKIT) President Artyom Sokolov highlighted that marketplaces, including niche ones, make up only 46.5% of total online purchases, indicating the potential for expansion.
The share of e-commerce in Russia's overall retail sales has reached a record high of 12.9%, up from 11.6% at the end of 2022. This surge demonstrates the increasing popularity of online channels, even surpassing the levels observed during the lockdown period when online shopping was the primary option for non-food products.
