      By 2026, Ukraine plans to supply half of its nuclear fuel needs independently, said the President of Energoatom, Petro Kotin, and added that there are plans for the other half to be obtained through its partnership with Westinghouse. The further development of Ukraine’s domestic production will secure the final departure from Russian technologies.
Multi-year synchronization project between Ukrenergo, European power operators completed. The project to synchronize the state grid operator Ukrenergo to its counterparts in continental Europe has been completed, the European Network of Transmission System Operators for Electricity (ENTSO-E) reported on Nov. 28.
Germany provides $328 million for Ukraine's energy grid. Germany has provided Ukraine's state grid operator Ukrenergo with 300 million euros ($328.4 million) for the repair and modernization of the energy grid, German Ambassador to Ukraine Martin Jaeger said on Nov. 27.
Ukraine needs $15B for large-scale energy infrastructure modernization.To increase the capacity and flexibility of the energy system, Ukraine needs about $15B in investment, of which $5.4B would be invested in wind power plants, $2.5B in solar power plants, $2.3B in thermal power plants, $1.2B in electric energy storage systems, $3.7B - hydraulic storage power plants. To that end, the US plans to allocate another $500M to strengthen the stability of the Ukrainian energy system. Also, Ukrenergo and American company General Electric agreed on the supply of reactive power regulation devices. The agreement provides for joint actions in the research and implementation of projects to install STATCOM devices, construct and modernize high-voltage substations, and strengthen energy security. Meanwhile, the Ministry of Energy and the American Tetra Tech agreed on cooperation in demining the energy infrastructure. The stability of the Ukrainian energy system will also be facilitated by expanding the capacity to import electricity from the EU: now Ukraine can import 1.2 GW of power compared to 500 MW a year ago.
Energy for the Recovery of Ukraine conference results: European ministers assure Ukraine of their support, Hyundai will develop power grids, and Denmark provides €7M. At the conference in Warsaw, the energy ministers of several European countries assured Ukraine they will help in the face of Russian aggression, and the businesses of these countries are interested in participating in Ukraine's post-war reconstruction. European Commissioner for Energy Kadri Simson emphasized that the EU will continue to support Ukraine in restoring critical energy infrastructure and equipment and with the country’s aspiration of integrating into the EU’s energy markets. In addition, Ukraine's state company, Ukrenergo, and South Korean Hyundai signed a memorandum on cooperation in developing electrical networks and transmission systems in Ukraine within the conference’s framework.
