The new price caps on the electricity market will make it profitable to import electricity in the winter, but to unify the energy grid with the European one, they must be canceled and prices equalized. The National Commission for Regulation in the Energy and Utilities Sectors has declared the need to abolish price restrictions on the electricity market (price caps) in 2024. As Forbes reminds its readers, the State Regulator plans to set new price caps that will be in effect until April 1. "The task is to go through the winter with them," says a member of the National Commission. He explained that the main purpose of the changes is to make the import of electricity profitable in winter to avoid possible shortages. At the same time, if the new price limits do not help encourage imports to Ukraine, UKRENERGO will have to ask neighboring countries for emergency assistance, which is 1.5-2 times more expensive than commercial prices. However, next year, Ukraine must abolish the maximum prices for commercial electricity to integrate its energy grid with the European one. After that, electricity prices in Ukraine will equalize with prices in neighboring countries.
The conference on the restoration of Ukraine’s energy system was held in Warsaw on November 14, and the first agreement has been signed with the Swedes. On the initiative of the Ministry of Energy of Ukraine, the international conference Energy for the Recovery of Ukraine is being held in Warsaw on November 14-15. Representatives of more than 500 companies from 30 countries will participate in the conference. Conference participants will discuss issues related to the restoration of Ukraine's energy infrastructure, energy security, the development of green energy, and the transformation of Ukraine into the energy hub of Europe. As part of the conference, Ukrenergo and the Swedish company Ingrid Capacity AB have already concluded a memorandum of cooperation. Among the key goals of the cooperation is to increase the power grid's resilience to various challenges and disruptions, including natural disasters, extreme weather events, and unexpected grid failures. In particular, this involves the development of energy storage systems capable of providing backup power during emergencies.
