Dr. Sajid briefly outlined about how APPNA is helping people back in Pakistan. This include organizing free eye
camps on a monthly or two in a month basis, in collaboration with LRBT (The Layton Rahmatullah Benevolent
Trust) in major cities of Pakistan. Each camp cost around $3000.
Distributing food packets (comprising of Rice, Salt,Sugar, Vegetable Oil etc) to the poor community during the
Holy month of Ramadan.
A very common problem back in Pakistan to the new born babies and infants, as observed by Dr. Sajid was Cleft
Lip and Cleft Palate in children, which need surgical procedure and is cost $250 per surgery. The pilot project
was initiated in FAISALABAD (in province Punjab of Pakistan) and all together 17 surgeries have been done so
far. APPNA has plan to start similar surgery sessions in Lahore, Karachi, Peshawar and Quetta this month.
APPNA has started Cornea Transplantation (for affected eyes) back in Pakistan with the help of Eye Bank Asso-
ciation of America, where each transplant cost around 200 – 250$, and almost 200 transplants have been done
since it started this year.
APPNA also organizes Annual National Health Care Day throughout the USA in October each year. The event is
managed by the 32 local chapters of APPNA based in cities across USA where basic health care facilities such as
Flu Shots, Blood Test, and Medical advice is provided to everyone around irrespective of Race, Gender and Reli-
gion. Florida Chapter will also organize on 07th October this year. This is advertised by using Banners, Message
on T-Shirts, and managed at Masjid or Office Building as is convenient to the people.
In a nutshell, APPNA is a platform where Exchange of Scientific Information, charitable and humanitarian work
in Pakistan and USA, Social Family Events, in a Desi Environment and to bring hearts together and to improve
image of Pakistani community as a whole in the local communities.
