This work represents the most
complete expression of the
research undertaken in his first Parisian experience. The Cubist influence has been metabolized and helps him to build a composition that evokes the different stylistic interests of this period, making them coexist in the same space. Here one finds, for the first time, a key element of Vanni's figurative syntax: the rejection of the choice of a univocal representative model in favour of a formulation resulting from the dialectical relationship within the painting. This aesthetic was to become fully established in the mid-sixties, but it is significant that it had already manifested itself in early works.
