Celebrate 50th Reunions
The 50th reunion celebrations for the Classes of 1970 and 1971 were postponed
in the last two years, due to COVID. But finally, they celebrated on October 9 and October 16, 2021 at Padua! As old friendships were renewed, new ties were formed throughout their fun weekends. Alumni shared stories reminiscing about their high school years, as well as remembrances of those classmates who have passed away. They traveled from near and from as far as New York, Florida, Arizona and Texas to celebrate their milestone year.
Their weekends included a Friday night out for just the guys. Buffalo Wild Wings in Strongsville was the choice for both classes. The 1970 gang managed to fit a Sunday golf game into their busy schedule. While at Padua on Saturday, alumni, along with spouses and guests, began the evening with Mass in the Gym celebrated by Fr. Marc Scheckells, ofm. Dcn. Ronald Gurr ’70 was the homilist during Mass on October 9; Padua’s Dcn. Matt Harley assisted at Mass on October 16. President David Stec ’86 shared his vision for the school and talked about how Padua has grown over the last 50 years.
Cocktails, hors d’oeuvres and a delicious buffet dinner were catered by alum Chris Kafcsak ’05 of Nomad Culinary. Nearly 100 guests at each of the two evening events filled the Gym with laughter and joyful conversations. The tour of the school was a favorite for all; they were amazed at the changes in the classrooms and throughout the campus. As they departed with their 50th Golden Bruin pins and baseball caps, members of both classes said the reunion was a fun, positive experience and well worth the wait. As Golden Bruins 50 years out, they are looking forward to coming back to The Grand Reunion on June 4, 2022.
Reunion Gift Challenge
Alumni in the classes ending in 2s and 7s, are you up for the challenge? In a few short weeks you will
be celebrating your time at Padua during The Grand Reunion on June 4. This special giving challenge is presented each year to celebrating classes as a way to show your unending loyalty to the school that helped you become the person you are today. We invite you to consider a special gift during this 60th anniversary year of Padua changing the lives of students through a Franciscan education. Perhaps a gift of $60, $600, or even $6,000 is your number! Whatever gift you make is greatly appreciated. Gifts received by May 31 will be part of the class challenges for the most dollars raised and the highest participation rate. You may go online at paduafranciscan.com/giving/donate-now or Venmo @PaduaBruins to make your gift. Thank you for your belief in the Padua mission and for giving back!
