WEDDING PLANNER, WEDDING COORDINATOR, WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE?
You may have heard the term ‘wedding planner’ or ‘wedding coordinator’ and thought they where pretty much the same person or role. Here is what you need to know about the difference between these titles.
You may find that the wedding venue that you choose may provide varying levels of wed- ding planning and coordination. Make a note to check with your venue about the available planning options so you don’t end up doubling up. Also to keep in mind, even if your venue of- fers a coordinator, their services might differ from that of a traditional wedding coordina- tor, so make sure what they offer and what you need before you decide whether or not to hire additional assistance.
The planning stage can be a stressful time, if you let it, but with the right direction and some help from a planner or coordinator, you can create the wedding of your dreams, without the stress in the planning details.
SOME QUESTIONS TO ASK YOURSELF
1 What is your general budget? Are you willing to spend at least 10-15% of that budget on a wedding planner? If the answer is a no to this, a wedding coor- dinator could be a more budget friendly option.
2 How much time do you have to dedicate to planning a wedding? If it is less than 3-5 hours a week, a wedding planner might be beneficial for you.
3 If you have a lot of people or family members wanting to have a say in your planning (conflicting ideas), a wedding planner can relieve you of a lot of decision making backfire where family is concerned.
4 If you feel like you have the ideas but struggle to figure out what the wedding formalities are (like how to plan a seating chart, time schedules and or- ganise vendors), a wedding coordinator could be very helpful to you.
