The Frontier Homestead State Park and Museum depicts the story of how Iron County was developed when President Brigham Young of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints sent missionaries to mine the iron deposits in Cedar Canyon. Mining still continues in this area today. The museum houses the largest collection of horse-drawn vehicles west of the Mississippi that were used from 1850–1920. It also contains pioneer artifacts, including the oldest log cabin in southern Utah (relocated from Parowan). There is a picnic area available, but no camping.

Parowan Gap has two features of distinction, one natural, one man-
made. The pass near Parowan is a classic illustration of a wind gap where an ancient river has cut a 600 ft. deep notch through the Red Hills. The gap also exhibits a splendid “gallery” of Native American rock art. Geometric designs, images of lizards, mountain sheep, snakes, bear claws, and human figures ornament the smooth canyon walls of the pass.
