“if/ to me/ you/ did not say that:/ I/ Lord,/ the Fortunate One/ your
disciple / will be/ Lord/ for me/ the beginning of things/ will reveal./”
Such being the case,/ foolish man,/ who/ are you/ what are you/ giving
up?
“about matter/ What/ do you think,/ Sunakkhatta?”/
be revealed,/ or/ Whether the beginning of things/ be not revealed,/
whether it is (the beginning of things)/ the object for which / by me/ the
Norm / is thought/: that it/ leads/ to the thorough destruction of ill/ for the
doer thereof?/
be revealed,/ or/ Whether the beginning of things/ be not revealed,/
whether it is (the beginning of things)/is the object for which /by the
Fortunate One/ the Norm / is thought/: that it/ leads/ to the thorough
destruction of ill/ for the doer thereof?/
But if/ Sunakkhatta/ be revealed,/ or/ Whether the beginning of things/ be
not revealed,/ whether it is (the beginning of things)/ is the object/ for
which I/ the Norm this/ teach/: that it/ leads/ well /to the thorough
destruction of ill/ for the doer thereof?/
Then/ Sunakkhatta,/ what purpose / the beginning of things be revealed?/
see/ you foolish man,/ in how far/ the fault(this)/ is your own”
