Study Section 6: Finding God’s Will in the Word
1.1 Connect.
If you are in love with Christ, you will want to obey Him. You will want to find out what He
wants you to do and then do it. If you live for yourself, you will not really care about finding
God’s plan or will for your life. You will just use your own “wisdom” to make your choices.
Did you know that God’s will for EVERY decision in your life can be found in God’s Word?
This means you can know God’s will in selecting a wife or husband. You can know His will in
every job or ministry opportunity. Every day you can wake up and know exactly what God wants you to
do that day. Today, we are going to learn how this is possible.
1.2 Objectives:
1. We will learn that the will of God is found through the careful examination of the Word of God and
principles it sets forth.
2. We will learn that there are different levels of Bible reading and study that are important to
incorporate in our lives to grow.
3. We will look at seven verses and concepts in the Bible that will tell the student how to know God’s
will about every decision in life.
1.3 God’s Word guides us toward knowing God’s Will
As a foundation “spoke,” God’s Word is accessed by those seeking to grow spiritually at five
levels, each more productive than the one before.
The Hand Illustration – helps to define these 5 Levels
This illustration was developed by The Navigators, Colorado Spring, Colorado to help
demonstrate…..
The Place of the Word of God in the Life of the Christian
“For Ezra had prepared his heart to SEEK the Law of the
Lord, and to DO it, and to TEACH in Israel statutes and
judgments.” Ezra 7:10
Doubtless you are aware that there are several ways of
fulfilling God’s command to study His Word and to “search
the Scriptures,” to do as Ezra did to “SEEK the Law of the
Lord.”
How shall we SEEK it?
1. Through the preached Word we HEAR it.
2. Through the printed page we READ it.
