3. God’s will is that you be sanctified. So what does that mean? It means that God wants you to be set
apart from the world and be holy, as He is holy.

I Thessalonians 4:3-6 For this is the will of God, your sanctification: that you abstain from sexual

                                                                                                 5

immorality; that each one of you know how to control his own body in holiness and honor, not in the
                                                                6
passion of lust like the Gentiles who do not know God; that no one transgress and wrong his brother in
this matter, because the Lord is an avenger in all these things, as we told you beforehand and solemnly
               warned you.

It is God’s will that you be pure. He wants you to be saved, Spirit-filled, and sanctified. By pure, God
says in this verse that He wants us to be free from sexual immorality. He wants us to control our body
which is dedicated to sanctification (set apartness) and honor. We are to honor the Lord in our body,
especially in the area of sexual desires.

               4. God’s will is that we be submissive to one another. We are to be submissive to those in authority
over us. And we are to submit to one another. Wives are to submit to the headship of their husband.
Husbands are to submit to the needs of their wives. Children are to submit to the leadership of their
               parents.

I Peter 2:13 Be subject for the Lord's sake to every human institution, whether it be to the emperor as
               supreme…

               5. It is God’s will that you suffer for him.

I Peter 4:19 Therefore let those who suffer according to God's will entrust their souls to a faithful
               Creator while doing good.

Peter says that you’re going to suffer according to the will of God. When you live a godly life in an
ungodly society, you are going to get some flack. Jesus suffered because of His goodness; He brought
conviction on those who interfaced with Him. In fact, He was killed by the Sanhedrin because He had
told them they were false religious leaders, which was so true. Being light in darkness will result in
               sufferings.

II Timothy 3:12 Indeed, all who desire to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted

               6. It is God’s will that you seek Him for Guidance. If you lack the wisdom to know what to do, ask God
for special wisdom, and he promises to grant it to you.

                                                                                                      6
Proverbs 3:5-6 Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all
your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.

James 1:5 If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and
               it will be given him.

               7. IF you are obeying all of the above, the will of the Lord is based on your desires. Does that sound a
bit crazy? The Bible says that if you have placed the Lord as center of your life (ie., you are saved, Spirit-
controlled, sanctified, submissive, willing to suffer and seek Him), then God will give you the desires of
