P. 54
Helps for those who “can’t wait” to share Christ with a friend….
1. Plan a time to go see someone or talk with someone about spiritual matters.
2. Pray for the salvation of people’s souls.
3. Be on soul-patrol at all times….have tracts; write something on it.
4. Be a good representative for Christ.
5. Keep a New Testament nearby.
6. Seek the Holy Spirit’s fullness.
7. Allow the Holy Spirit to control you.
8. Be Word filled.
9. Be patient and consistent.
10. Go with others when possible.
11. Be confident in God’s purpose and plan.
12. Be personable, complementary, and genuinely interested in people. Try to learn their name
and use it.
13. Only one should do the talking, the other prays and runs interference.
14. Map out your New Testament by marking important verses to use leading a person to Christ
Present the Gospel
“The gospel is the power of God unto salvation….” It is very simply summarized in I Cor. 15:3,4 “For I
delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the
scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the Scriptures.”
Remember this: An effective witness will always leave a person in such a position as to be responsive to
a follow-up witness by the same person or someone else.
[This ends our focus on the Wheel Illustration and our description of the four main “spokes.” But let’s
remember that the spokes on the wheel are there to both help to keep the hub (Christ) of the Christian
life in the center and to convey the power keeping the wheel (the Christian life) moving for God. There
could be many other “spokes” if a person wants to consider them. We will suggest some, beginning
with the “Business spoke,” providing a sample outline as a suggestion of how one might develop future
“spokes” for their own Christian growth and maturity….]
10.4 Let’s Practice…
1-3. Lifeway suggests ways to open a spiritual conversation. Share three of the questions you
could ask a lost person.
4. What is the problem with sharing your testimony when witnessing?
5. In sharing the Gospel, what is the first and foremost topic to begin your discussion?
6. In sharing the Gospel, what would the second topic be as suggested by the author?
