Newsletter 001 From Our New President
A lot has happened since our AGM at the presentation night back in mid- October.
We have elected a new committee
to help guide WASC through another season. Welcome to all our new and returning members on the committee. The team is as follows;
President
Vice President Secretary
Treasurer
BBQ Coordinator Fundraising & Grants Uniforms
General Committee
Brad Tunbridge Damien Grant Jane Semmens Julie Watkinson Owen Brown Wendy Gawne Toni Dowling Janet Finlay
dedication put into his coaching and, the results will follow through the improvement of all our swimming children. Welcome aboard Luke.
A very busy Sunday has also passed us by where Western Aquatic members cooked the Bunnings BBQ at Woodville. These BBQs are a great way to meet other families and raise much needed funds to keep our Swimming Club operating. For all our efforts the club raised $1881 for the day. This could not have been done without the organization by Owen Brown and all his assistants on the day. Well done team.
Michelle B, Maja & Reya, JJJ, Janet & Melissa, Flora & Peta, Brenton & Lara, Julie, Damien were all amazing on the day and kept pushing through for a great result for our club. Well done especially to our senior swimmers for taking shifts to help set up the club for a great start to the year. (Reya, JJJ, Melissa & Peta).
Looking ahead we also have some more carnivals coming, Christmas Break Up and Open water swimming season to kick off as the temperature heats up.
Here’s to some fun and fast swimming ahead.
Brad Tunbridge
As well as the above team, Steph Breden will assist us with club communications and Sarah Bastian will assist our captains with social events.
Our Club Captains for the new season were announced. Congratulations
to Jack Jackson, Jacob Semmens and Cassie Brooks for being selected to lead our club.
Then we had our first All in Long Course meet that was well attended by our swimmers. As per Damien’s email after the event, we had some great results
to start off the new season. Well done swimmers!
With a new coach, (and former swimming member) Luke Zille appointed to manage our squads it brings excitement to our team as we enter the Long Course season. Luke’s experience in both the pool and ocean (Surf Life Saving) events will bring a new perspective and additional experience to the swimmers. Luke has competed on the national stage, winning medals for all his hard work and dedication.
I have no doubt we will see the same
