Understanding Your
Hair
If you are longing to refer back to your natural roots let me
tell you that it is such a big but elaborating step to take. Of
course, when you decide to transition or to do the big chop you
will always have that self-doubt in the back of your mind
whether you have made the right choice, but that's when you
have to determine all the positive reason as to why you should
learn to embrace what is yet to come. Despite all the things
you may hear about hair texture, really in my opinion does
not matter if you have 4a or 3a4c hair etc and should not
matter in the natural world, however, you will need to
determine your hairs density and your hair's porosity, as these
two factors will help determine how best to manage your hair
and what products will work best for your hair texture.
Do not be fixated into that whole texture talk because as you
go along your hair journey you will find that it is all
irrelevant.
When we talk about hair's porosity, what that means is how
well your hair can absorb and retain moisture. The condition
of the hair's cuticle the overlapping scales will determine
whether you have low, medium is known as normal or high
porosity hair.
If you have normal porosity hair, healthy hair you will find
that the cuticle is compact meaning that your have moisture
coming and moisture coming out the balance is great for you.
If you have low porosity hair, what that means is that the
cuticles are overly compact and lays flat meaning that it will
repel penetration of moisture into your hair because your
cuticles always remain close.
