Let’s be honest . . . TYRANNOSAURUS was pretty enormous.
The largest T Y R A N N O S A U R U S skeletons ever to be discovered are nicknamed
‘Scotty’ and ‘Sue’ and are kept in museums in the USA and Canada.
Sue was huge – over 4 metres tall at the hips! Scotty was a bit stockier and, even though it died when only 30 years old, it could have weighed 8 tonnes. That’s heavier than three white rhinos . . . or over 100 average-size grown-ups!

But was T Y R A N N O S A U R U S really the largest of them all? Well, palaeontologists now think that there are some other dinosaurs that could be crowned ‘Biggest Predator’ instead. Dinosaurs like CARCHARODONTOSAURUS from Algeria and GIGANOTOSAURUS and TYRANNOTITAN from Argentina looked similar to TYRANNOSAURUS’s relative ALLOSAURUS but were much, much bigger!
