The £400 million Peak Resort scheme was announced to a worldwide stage by the then Prime Minister David Cam- eron.
The flagship development joined key developments at Chesterfield Waterside, Northern Gateway and Markham Vale in represent- ing a billion pounds of invest- ment in the borough.
And the pace of change is stepping up.
Work has begun on major developments and more are on the way, including an HS2 stop at Chesterfield Railway Station which has been de- scribed as a ‘game-changer’ for the area.
More than £700 million of investment alone is happen- ing along Chesterfield’s A61 corridor with the creation of the Chesterfield Waterside and Peak Resort develop- ments.
Peter Swallow, chairman of marketing and inward invest- ment partnership Destination Chesterfield and managing director of the firm develop- ing the £340 million Chester- field Waterside development, said: “We are a town punching above our weight, made pos- sible by the partnership and investment of the public and private sector.
