Greetings Brothers and Sisters,
I was reading about Christ and how He was
entirely human in His battle with sin. He did
not have any beneficial advantages that we
don’t have. In fact there is an aspect about His
life that made His battle with sin even harder
than ours yet He never sinned, ever. In fact,
listen to this statement. RH April 1, 1875. It
was as difficult for Him to keep the level of
humanity as for men to rise above the low level of their depraved natures, and be
partakers of the divine nature.”
In other words, He had to battle the overwhelming urge to use His divinity
especially when He was treated so cruelly. At any moment, He could have used
that divinity that was rightly His and take care of those people in an instant that
brought pain and misery to Him. Plus He had to battle the everyday challenge of
sin that you and I face.
On the other hand, we often desire divinity for
selfish purposes. We do need to seek divine power,
but not for our own worldly advantage. The divine
power we need is to combat sin. We need divine
power as we reach out to others with the Gospel.
And there are many instances we need divine power
for protection and guidance etc. We must be careful
to limit that desire for divine power for the right
things in life. And get this. We need to seek this divine power to live absolutely
perfect lives. That is our goal and anything less is inadequate. That is something
we must never lose sight of. And when we fail, we must not get discouraged, but
get up and in the grace of Christ press on to that perfect goal.
