The Prez Sez
The women of KAWRJ have come through for us once again. We badly need a new computer for Diana in accounting. There was no room in the CKA budget to cover the cost. KAWRJ has graciously stepped up with funds to purchase a new computer. The new one will improve efficiency and significantly reduce frustrations when using it. Thank you, KAWRJ, and all of the women who helped raise the funds to be donated and all of you who donated to KAWRJ.
bedrock of our budget are membership dues and religious school fees. So, please commit to the Congregational Dues level if at all possible. The lower dues levels are suggestions for those who cannot afford the Congregational level. If you fall somewhere in between, please commit to the amount you can give. Every little bit helps.
I am excited by the Engagement Committee’s work on forming Havurot. There was a nice turnout of members at the informational meeting. An email was sent out for those who have not yet returned their questionnaires; you can also fill out the questionnaire online using the following link: http://tinyurl.com/ ckainterestgroupinterest. The goal of the Havurot is to provide a vehicle to build social relationships with each other. So, please complete the questionnaire and return it to the committee, which is chaired by Vicki L., with Diane A. helping to coordinate the Havurot.

June Board Meeting Recap
The board heard Rabbi’s reports, Sam’s report and the committee liaison reports. We welcomed new board members: DJ M., Kevin S. and Joel R., and thanked outgoing board members, Doug G. and Izzy E.
A new committee was authorized to be a year-round leadership search committee.
A new committee was formed to revise the By-Laws. These revisions will focus mostly on organizing the information for ease of use and adding the ability to conduct board business electronically. By-Law revision requires a vote of the congregation. The goal is to have the revision ready by next May’s annual meeting.
You should have received your membership packets in an email. We also have paper packets available if email doesn’t work for you. Memberships renew on July 1, so please make sure you get your renewals in to Diana as soon as possible. It is your membership and generosity that make it possible to have a Reform Jewish presence in SW Washington. Even though we had exceptionally generous donors to cover the cost of the building and its furnishings, the day to day operations budget is always cinched unbelievably tight. The
