“That Other’s May Live”, the living motto of the 505th Search and Rescue
Group which is in charge of the search, rescue and retrieval operations, in support
of the AFP and other civilian agencies. By doing these mandated tasks, this unit
also constitutes to the manifestation of air power in the support to national security

and development. A continuous development and improvement is a critical part of
a unit’s overall capability and standing. Through these innovations, our country’s
strength in terms of air power also increases which make us retrieve our part in the
hierarchy of air power with different countries.

Here in our unit, we make innovations and developments to cope up with the
drastic changes of the society and environment. In terms of air assets, we plan on
acquiring additional and different platforms to cover the various needs on our line
of work. By having additional assets, we are able to perform missions on different
areas simultaneously without affecting the aircrafts intended for training and main-
tenance. At this point, we are steps closer on achieving these improvements for the

enhancement of our air power. The 505th SRG is also one of the units in the Philip-
pine Air Force who can operate with single aircraft which shows our capability and
sense of responsibility. We can accomplish these things because of our skilled per-
sonnel on different aspects of skills. These schoolings and trainings were facilitated
by our own unit as well which make us very unique to others. Being able to possess
well-trained and professional personnel in different types like scuba diving, sky
diving, aircraft maintenance, etc. Moreover, with the strategic positioning of our ad-
vance command posts, we are able to cover missions in any part of the archipelago.
A factor that made us accomplish these was having three different types of aircraft

with different capabilities. Through this, we are able to perform different kinds of mis-
sions in any kind of situations. Our unit also conducts maritime patrol which supports
our country in building a credible air defense posture in the Philippine defense area
of operations.

Air power is one of the vital characteristics a country should possess for it one
of the deciding factors for a country’s preservation of national security and develop-
ment. And the 505th Search and Rescue Group is a manifestation of this aspect.
