Propagating Air Power to the Masses
others, and not to be the source of endorsement, because if one is endorsed, it will
be reflected to the whole class.
to learn to laugh, yet never forget how to weep; to reach into the future, yet never
neglect the past; to be serious, yet never to take yourself too seriously; to be mod-
est so that you will remember the simplicity of true greatness, the open mind of true
wisdom, the meekness of true strength.
Being a trainee and eventually being an officer of the Philippine Air Force, we
are faced with lots of demands and pressures. The shoulder loop in our uniforms
symbolizes the responsibilities that we take. A simple man would give in, but not us.
We are trained how to balance things. We work hard, but we do not forget how to
live a little, and we are thankful that the School is generous for this.
They give you a temperate will, a quality of the imagination, a vigor of the emotions,
a freshness of the deep springs of life, a temperamental predominance of courage
over timidity; of an appetite for adventure over love of ease. They create in your
heart the sense of wonder, the unfailing hope of what’s next, and the joy and inspira-
tion of life.
My journey here in PAFOCS is comparable to an exhilarating roller coaster ride.
The School never ceases to give me excitement, thrill, and adventure. The course is
designed so that every Officer Candidate will not be bored out of the training. Every
day is a new challenge, and every day, a new adventure will surely unfold.
They teach you in this way to be an officer and a gentleman.
The School have existed for more than two decades, yet still, the tradition
lives on – to train the future custodians of the nation’s air power so that they become
competent and principled leaders. Whatever field they may take, they become the
embodiment of the School’s morals and core values. They become an inspiration to
everyone, not only inside the organization, but even in the community, and the na-
tion as well. And this is how the School contribute to the propagation of air power.
