MESSAGE FROM THE
VICE PRINCIPAL DR POONAM MAHINDRA
T
he biggest challenge faced by the educators of today is to prepare students for the challenges of a
globalised world. Students of today face a world that continually demands new knowledge and abilities, a
world that requires students to become adaptable, life-long learners.
As a learning community, every member of our family is a life-long learner. As educators, we continuously seek
to improve our practice and support students in the best ways possible. Our students are challenged to reach
their potentials and soar high in their achievement. Our goal is to develop both confidence and competence in
every student across the broad range of interests and pursuits.
The development of the school over the past years has been significant. The future will build on the firm
foundations which have been established for the benefit of our students. We aim to prepare our pupils to be
independent, free-thinking, highly qualified individuals, confident in their ability to choose the appropriate path
in the journey of life.
The pandemic has changed everyone's perceptions. It's a more humane world which has set a future for us in
terms of e-learning, e-commerce, new economy, our social responsibilities and most importantly, our health.
The new normal is to reflect on our outdated habits and behaviours and make a conscious decision to change
for a better, more relevant normal. Our world will emerge stronger than before. J.K. Rowling aptly said, "We do not need magic to change the world, we
carry all the power we need inside ourselves already: we have the power to imagine better."
DGPS has taken extraordinary measures to ensure that students continue to receive the level of education they need to stay on track during the closure and be
ready for the future. Beyond the knowledge, students have developed skills they will use forever. Distance learning has prepared them to become informed
digital citizens who can use technology effectively. They have enhanced their communication, presentation and multi-tasking skills. The teachers have worked
very closely with them to ensure that they make the most progress possible–their creative and innovative ways have assured that learning even at home has a
positive impact on students' development and well-being. The students not only work collaboratively but are also accountable for their own academic and
developmental progress.
To the Class of 2020: You are unique and we celebrate your accomplishments! The best words that describe this class are passion, confidence and resilience.
Positive thinking will take you a long way. Take time to find new strategies, clarify your vision. Instill positivity amongst your fellow students through your belief
and optimistic outlook. Believe in yourself and your dreams and make plans to achieve them, no matter how difficult that might sometimes seem. Someday you
will look back at these pages and think about people and events that shaped your school experience, but now is the time to open a new chapter of your life.
This might not be the way you imagined ending your school years. But you have to look at it in this way: you will have one of the most unique stories to share
with your kids. Enjoy the moment and say the final goodbyes to your fellow students, teachers, staff and Ali Uncle. Your teachers will always be a Zoom call
away!
‘‘ If you are working on something exciting that you really Steve Jobs
care about, you don't have to be pushed. The vision pulls you.”
