Constructing the Built Environment

What will I This course provides you with an introduction to the construction industry. You
do on this will develop an understanding of the relationship between the construction
course? process, the planning of construction projects and construction site safety.
Over the two year course you will learn a range practical skills including
carpentry/joinery, electrical work and painting and decorating.
How am I Unit 1: Safety and security in construction
assessed? This unit is an externally assessed 60 minute examination with a total of 60
marks and designed to test your knowledge of construction site safety. 25% of
overall grade.
Unit 2: Developing construction projects
This unit is internally assessed and will provide you with the opportunity to
demonstrate a range practical skills required within the construction industry.
50% of overall grade.
Unit 3: Planning construction projects
This unit is an externally assessed examination which allows you to reinforce
your learning from units 1 and 2 in different contexts in order to propose
solutions to plan construction projects. 25% of overall grade.
