protected and safe, but also to give them the opportunity to work with technology and to do the things they’ll need to do in the work force.”
Cheatham, 38, is a life-long Brevardian. He attended Andersen and Golfview Elementary Schools, Kennedy Middle, and Rockledge High before going off to Jacksonville University. He is a sports fanatic and his dream job would be playing any sport professionally, although he admits that would be hard on
his body at this stage of life. Fried chicken is Cheatham’s favorite food and he loves to cook. To relax, he enjoys cruising as it gives him an opportunity to disconnect from the information technology world for a little
bit. Good to know he’s disconnected only when out at sea, because he admits his biggest job (and all of our jobs here at BPS)
is “getting the kids ready for their future.”
Stephanie Soliven, Ed. D. comes to the role
of assistant superintendent for secondary leading and learning believing that “public education is the only way to transform our society and move forward,” she said. She brings a combination of her real-world experience, having served as a classroom teacher, assistant principal, and most recently, as principal, and her academic training in curriculum and instruction to the position.
The former Cocoa High principal has three education degrees from the University of Central Florida.
The assistant superintendent for secondary leading and learning is responsible for 27 secondary schools, the Brevard Virtual School and 33,000 students. “In this capacity
I support the schools’ principals and help them grow as leaders, monitor student
achievement, conduct issues, insure equity throughout the county, staffing, budgets, and make sure the schools perform at their peak,” Soliven said.
