El proyecto lo rma también el arquitec- to belga Edouard Niermans, autor de reformas en el Hotel de París de Mónaco en 1908 y en el Hotel du Palais de Biarritz, además de construir el Hotel Negresco de Niza en 1912. La presencia de este arquitecto llega a través de la constructora belga. Una vez comenzados los trabajos de construcción, comprobamos la presencia de Eduard Ferrés mientras se inician los cimientos y el arranque de la estructura de hormigón armado en las prime- ras plantas, proceso del que existen numerosas fotografías en sus archivos personales. Más tarde se distancia de los trabajos, con los que sigue en relación a través de la empresa.
Al tratarse de una estructura en hormigón armado, considerada la primera en este tipo de edi cios en la capital, se hizo necesario traer desde Barcelona algunas piezas especiales para los encofrados y para la mezcla de los materiales, solucionándose gracias a la experiencia previa de la empresa cons- tructora. Eduard Ferrés mantuvo un alto control de calidad en la ejecución, permanecía en Madrid largas temporadas, y contó también con la super- visión de los técnicos Ghende, Leconte, Benar y Nava, por parte de la rma belga. Según atestiguan las fotos de la época, a los siete meses estaban realizadas las obras de cimentación y estructura,
y el edi cio ocupaba su volumen de nitivo ante el asombro de los madrileños. El resto del tiempo se empleó en completar los trabajos de albañilería, instalaciones y decoración. El Palace Hotel supo- ne un elemento de vanguardia tecnológica en la

Later, he distanced himself from the work, which he followed through his relations with the company.
Being a structure of reinforced concrete, con- sidered the rst of its kind in the capital, it was necessary to bring some special equipment from Barcelona for the plank moulds and to mix the materials, which was carried out thanks to the previous experience of the construction company. Eduard Ferrés maintained a high quality of con- trol over the execution of the work and remained in Madrid for lengthy periods, and also counted on with the supervision of the technicians Gh- ende, Leconte, Benar and Nava, on behalf of the Belgian rm. As the photographs from the period reveal, after seven months the foundations and structure of the building were completed, and the building occupied its de nitive volume before the astonished eyes of the people of Madrid.
