When moving a heavy object, especially by dragging
or towing (even through water), the killick hitch (a
timber hitch with an additional half hitch) creates
a more secure bond between rope and object.
Sometimes called the kelleg hitch, this knot works
well if the object to be moved is long. Small boats
sometimes use this hitch to attach oddly shaped
and heavy objects to the boat as an anchor.
