HEALING IN THE BIBLE

“From God the doctor has his wisdom...His knowledge makes the doctor distinguished… [But God]

endows men with the knowledge to in His mighty works...”. Within the Bible, there are many stories that tell

tales of “miraculous miracles” that were carried out by Jesus Christ and His disciple St. Luke. St. Luke

himself was said to be a physician. Jesus is often thought to have been a spiritual healer and has been said to

have done a series of miracle cures to people. He is thought to have cured demoniacs, cleansed lepers, restored

motion to the paralyzed, healed a gentile centurion’s slave, brought back a dead son of a widow, cured a

hemorrhaging woman, cured a woman on the Sabbath, cured the edema of a man, and he has been thought to

have brought sight back to a beggar. Some stories also state that Jesus also cast demons out of the possessed

and healed many other diseases that weren’t recorded into the Bible. The ability for Jesus to conduct such

healings was taken as a sign that the “reign of God” had arrived in Earth. It was said that God had granted
