P. 7
We proudly announced that the long-awaited qualification for chefs in health and social care catering had received Ofqual recognition and was to be part of the Institute of Hospitality (IOH) awarding body
cumulative total of £5.5 billion from budgets by the end of the nancial year (2016/17), has placed it at a point of crisis. Unfortunately, the valuable Meals on Wheels service fell victim to this with cut backs and closures across the country providing a short-term nancial x.
As an association, we’ve worked hard to raise the pro le and importance of this service both politically and through the media. We’re currently working behind the scenes, putting together plans for this year’s Meals on Wheels Week, which starts on 5 November. We’re repeating our research of 2016 that will explore the state of the service two years on, and we’re showcasing innovation through case studies that highlight our members’ successes in creating alternative models that keep the Meals on Wheels ethos alive. Following the success of previous years, we’re also bringing back VIP on Wheels. Look out for more details!
IDDSI – SUPPORTING CHANGE
We’ve also been working alongside industry colleagues to ensure the implementation
of the International Dysphagia Descriptors Standardisation Initiative (IDDSI). We welcome these changes and we’re committed to supportingyoutoensureasmoothtransition. We know that training and guidance is the best way to achieve this, so we’ve included a tailored
training session in this year’s NACC Training and Development Forum programme and, as already mentioned, the new quali cation supports the new IDDSI framework.
CHECK OUT OUR NEW WEBSITE
We’ve created a fresh, new website that’s
a valuable resource for our members and
an excellent external communication tool. Launched in June, it’s been carefully designed to make it user-friendly, with positive, practical content and a dedicated members area with relevant, bene cial information, for members’ eyes only!

I urge you to get along to your next meeting and support your local NACC colleagues. With this in mind, I’d like to thank all the regional executive members and volunteers for their continued contribution and commitment to the association.
A GLIMPSE AT THE YEAR AHEAD
Training and development has been an ongoing area of great value for our members and it’s something we’re constantly being approached to provide access to. Without giving too much away, we’re working on something that I believe will be of great interest to you, but you’ll have to wait for the NACC Training & Development Forum in October to hear more...
THANK YOU
As you can see, it’s been another strong year for the NACC. We couldn’t have achieved so much without the support of our members. I thank you all for your ongoing contribution and I look forward to continuing to work with you, making arealdi erence, intheyearahead.
