Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) are groups that need therapy, not only from a
psychological perspective, but also from a medical perspective. Of the 1437 HIV cases in
Padang City in 2015, 12% of them were LGBT perpetrators. This group has a high risk of
transmitting sexually transmitted diseases in the community, so that the supply of health
services should be well accessible. The purpose of this study was to analyze the availability of
health service supply for LGBT groups in Padang City.
Research with a qualitative design was conducted in February-July 2016. Informants were
determined by purposive sampling as many as 6 people, consisting of the Head of Disease
Eradication and Disaster Management, HIV-AIDS Program Holder, Adolescent Reproductive
Health Program Staff, VCT Midwives, Psychologists and Reproductive Health Midwives in
Padang City. Data were collected by using in-depth interviews, document review and
observation. The results of the study show that the supply of health services for the LGBT group
has been available and has been incorporated into the HIV-AIDS service program at the Public
Health Center in Padang since 2011. The service providers consist of doctors, midwives, nurses,
and health analysts who have been trained on services for the LGBT group. Services in the form
of counseling, health counseling and health checks. Health Checks in the form of physical
examinations and supporting examinations to detect the presence of HIV, sexually transmitted
infections and tuberculosis. The service time is the same as the general health service time.
The standard of equipment and health infrastructure for the LGBT group is the same as the
standard for all other types of reproductive health services. There is no special service program
for the LGBT group because it has been integrated with reproductive health services, but in
the future it is necessary to create a special consultation room so that the LGBT group feels
more comfortable and open in consulting.
