Gender issues in education have received the attention of many researchers in Indonesia.

Gender-biased practices and gender stereotypes in educational institutions, from elementary

school to college, still going on. This study aims to develop a Gender-responsive curriculum

model for supports the practice of higher education with a gender equality perspective at
Jambi University. Various studies show that the experience of female college alumni in starting

and developing a career is still very disadvantaged by the practice of gender bias that still

exists a lot in the workplace. Therefore, integrating gender equality insights into in the college

curriculum becomes very important to prepare college graduates who have good awareness

and knowledge of gender equality. This research is designed as social action research in in the
field of education carried out with a design and development approach. The period of the

research is three years, which includes the design of curriculum, curriculum implementation

and learning, as well as curriculum evaluation and learning. In this first year, the research will

be developed as a qualitative research with the main focus on developing a gender responsive

curriculum model through the following stages: collect data, analyze data, formulate a model
framework, and build model representation. The development of a gender responsive

curriculum will be based on three things: (1) need more analysis that obtained from focus

group discussions(FGD) to explore experiences female alumni in building and developing

careers, and (2) academic input from curriculum and pedagogical experts as well as gender

science experts, and (3) curriculum document analysis available from several reference
universities. This type of research is qualitative research with design and development. The aim

is to design and develop curriculum gender responsive for college level. Selected model for

developing the curriculum in question is a conceptual research model and procedural so that

curriculum concepts and implementation procedures are generated in the form of a complete

academic manuscript. This research is covering four stages: (1) the stage of analysis, (2) the
stage of formulating concepts and curriculum model, (3) the stage of developing curriculum

components, and (4) the stage of testing by experts and gender practitioners who teach in

university. Thus, this validation will include theoretical and usability tests curriculum

implication of gender perspective in the school curriculum and higher education. On college

level, gender-responsive curriculum will help prospective female graduates prepare for the

challenges of the world patriarchal work. For male students, this insight is also importance to
support the realization of an inclusive and fair work world. Moreover, gender responsive

curriculum design can be used as a reference for implementing higher education with an

insight into gender equality and social inclusion.
