                      The problem in this study is that lecturers have not been maximally and optimally in

                      implementing the Tridharma of Higher Education even though this is an obligation that has

                      been mandated by law to Lecturers. The purpose of this study is to develop a conceptual

                      model of the influence between empowering leadership and professionalism on lecturer

                      performance by offering work motivation as mediating and moderating variables and self-

                      efficacy and locus of control as moderating variables. The sample in this study were 317 private
                      high school lecturers in Jambi and Riau Provinces, the data analysis technique used SEM-PLS

                      with the application of WarpPLS 7.0. The main finding in this study is that work motivation (full

                      meditation) the effect of professionalism on lecturer performance; work motivation partially

                      mediates  (partial  mediation)  the  effect  of  empowering  leadership  on  lecturer  performance;

                      work motivation is able to significantly strengthen the influence of professionalism on lecturer
                      performance; then empowering leadership has a positive and significant effect on lecturer

                      performance;  professionalism  has  a  positive  but  not  significant  effect  on  lecturer  performance;

                      work motivation has a positive and significant effect on lecturer performance; motivation

                      weakens the effect of empowering leadership on lecturer performance, although not

                      significantly; self-efficacy weakens the effect of empowering leadership on lecturer
                      performance although not significantly; locus of control is able to strengthen the influence of

                      professionalism on lecturer performance although not significantly. Other findings outside the

                      hypothesis proposed by the authors are empowering leadership has a positive and significant

                      effect on lecturers 'work motivation, and professionalism has a positive and significant effect

                      on lecturers' work motivation. All research findings have met the requirements that must be
                      met in the SEM-PLS model especially the fit and quality index models.
