Board of Directors Meeting April 2017 - Key Messages
House Committee
The House Committee met in early April to discuss vision and implementation of Food and Beverage
service with the Senior Management Team. Many items were discussed with the common theme being
food quality and elevated service. The House Committee is very complimentary of the strategies
proposed by Perry and Chef Jason and we are supportive of the common goals and aspirations for Food
and Beverage Service at Cherry Hill. The Food and Beverage Team is in the final push for the upcoming
season. Quite a few projects have come together nicely:
The dining room has been painted and the floors have been refinished.
The patio is prepped and ready to go with the awning installed and furniture in place.
As always, Sue has the Halfway House ready to go. The new Halfway House ‘bar’ is being
built and will be in place by Member’s Opening.
Rick has prepped the bar areas and is familiar with our new wine offerings.
Menus have been finalized and shared with the Membership on the Club website.
Eddie has found a new home in the ‘bar’ area of the Men’s Locker Room.
Administratively new controls and measures have been executed to align with best
practices found in the industry.
Staff training is a priority for both Perry and Jason. To this point a Soft Opening of Clubhouse operations
occurred at the end of April. This evening was well received by all those in attendance and on a whole
the Food and Beverage team performed admirably. Notes were taken and areas of concerns will be
addressed. This effort was designed to ideally have procedures dialed in for Clubhouse service to begin.
An Entertainment Committee has been struck, and with the support of the House Committee, will be key
drivers in events throughout the season.
The template for Clubhouse service has been sent out to Membership and this information piece
describes a daily, weekly and yearlong synopsis. We are excited about the opportunities that lie ahead
and ask all Memberships to support the new initiatives going forward. Please consider Cherry Hill first
for all your dining needs.
Grounds Committee
Record rainfalls seem to be the theme in 2017. The golf course continues to be saturated to a point
where carts are unavailable for play. We are expecting excellent playing conditions once the golf course
dries as turf conditions continue to improve daily. There are a few spring projects that are behind
schedule because of the inability to get equipment on the golf course but when the weather does
cooperate the Turf Department expects to catch up in short order. A highlight has been the re-
stabilisation of our ancient White Oak. A cable which supports a main branch failed. This cable was
replaced along with the additional support cables. The White Oak, which is believed to be one of the
oldest in Ontario is healthy and will continue to protect the 1 green from flying golf balls!
