The Grotto Pool Spring
Scientists have studied the springs at The Cedars in great depth. These waters, known as ultra-basic reducing springs, have low redox potential combined with extraordinarily high pH (pH > 11, Eh < −550 mV) making them among the highest pH, and most scienti cally interesting waters in the world. The Cedars is rich with diversity and research potential, down to the microscopic level. New species discovered in the Grotto Pool Spring were named in honor of Roger and David, Serpentinomonas raichei and Serpentinomonas mccroryi.
