ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS
As is true with most conservation projects, the Main Canyon Parcel addition to The Cedars of Sonoma County Bureau of Land Management Area of Critical Environmental Concern
involved a special place and many wonderful people. Landowners, neighbors, researchers, land trusts, private and public agencies,
all worked together to put together the pieces of the puzzle. We celebrate the land and its many natural treasures. And we give thanks to all those involved.
Roger Raiche, David McCrory, and Kate Anderton were the
project leaders and worked together for many years to nd the best
conservation solution for this particularly unique 500-acre Main
Canyon Parcel. Roger has been the longest time champion for
The Cedars, called by some the “John Muir of Sonoma County.”
Roger and David donated a portion of the land in-kind. Kate
donated and spent many personal hours nding solutions to the
complex transactional issues that arose. Roger has spent the past
35 years documenting and teaching about The Cedars. He has also
contributed leadership for guided tour access. Roger also personally
created several miles of trail systems, with a pick and a rake, one foot at a time, over many years.
