What if charting doesn't work for me?
If the idea of charting sounds stressful, or if you just can't make it work,
there are other ways to estimate when you'll ovulate. For example, you can
try using an ovulation predictor kit (discussed later), which measures your
hormone levels and indicates when you're about to ovulate. And if you
have the flexibility to take a more low-key approach, you can just have sex
about every other day during the middle two weeks of your cycle.
Pregnancy after periods?
Yes, it's possible to get pregnant right after your period. The shorter your
cycle and the longer your period, the more likely it is that you'll be fertile
during the last few days of your period or in the days just afterward.
Ovulation occurs during the middle of your menstrual cycle, so if you have
a 28-day cycle, that's most likely sometime between the ninth and 21st
days after your last period started. Conception results when an egg meets a
sperm, so there must be sperm in your fallopian tubes on the day you
ovulate (or release an egg from an ovary) for this to happen.
And because sperm can live in your reproductive tract for up to five days,
you could get pregnant if you have sex any time in the five days leading up
