7.2 Information Literacy Training
The graph above depicts that most information literacy group training sessions were conducted at the Sunnyside Branch Library in Pretoria. This could be attributed to the fact that the Sunnyside Branch Library is on the main administrative campus. Therefore, most Unisa students live in the area and visit this campus frequently for administrative purposes.
7.3 Unisa Library Services to Prisons
During the last three years, the Unisa Library has established a partnership with the Department of Correctional Services that assists incarcerated members of the Unisa student body to request and access resources from the Unisa Library. Students request the items they need and they are delivered directly to the speci c prison by the Library. To date, the Unisa Library has set up agreements with the Kgosi Mampuru Prison, the Losperfontein Prison and the Zonderwater Prison.
7.4 Staff’s Skills Enhancement in Serviced to Clients Living with Disabilities
Unisa Library sta participated in training interventions to enhance their skills. The training sessions were aimed at refreshing sta skills in the use of such assistive devices as Eye-Pal, Plustek, BookReader, and the EasyConverter software used to convert material requested by print disabled clients. The Library, in alliance with the Academy of Applied Technology for Teaching and Innovation (AATTI), hosted a workshop entitled The assistive technologies for learning support of students with disabilities. Library sta participated and presented papers at the Workshop on the use of assistive devices.
7.5 Launch of the Staff Request a Literature Search
The sta Request a Literature Search form was launched towards the end of 2016 and tested. The form enables all Unisa sta to request a literature search online. Another advantage is that it streamlines the administration of these requests and manual capturing of sta requests for literature searches from the Information Search Librarians Team will no longer be necessary.
