NYAA Junior Programme – The Butterfly Award Workshop
On Friday, 8 March 2024, over 50 primary schools sent their Vice Principals, Heads of Department, and
senior teachers to participate in the NYAA Junior Programme Butterfly Award Workshop at the Enterprise
Development Centre at ITE College Central. HODs and teachers from West Spring Primary School and North
Spring Primary School shared insights on how the Butterfly Award has provided valuable opportunities for
their students’ holistic development.
The workshop generated strong interest among teachers regarding what NYAA could offer their students.
The Executive Director shared two impactful projects from 2023 involving primary schools: Snapshots of the
Longhill and Cherished Memories of Yesteryears. These projects were well received, particularly because of
the active involvement of students’ parents and grandparents, which added an intergenerational dimension
to the programme.
Heads of Department and teachers from 37 primary schools participated in the second workshop. Guest
speakers included Ms Nurul Shaherrah Binte Kamas Ali, Manager of School Health & Outreach (Educational
Institutions), Health Promotion Board, Ministry of Health, and Ms Cheryl Chia Siew Wah, Director of Biodiversity
Information & Outreach, National Biodiversity Centre, National Parks Board. They presented their respective
programmes in partnership with NYAA.
