For months after quarantine, the only
access I had to the outside world was my
window. Each morning, groggy and often
sad or upset, I would gaze out my window
and onto my Brooklyn fire escape, where
these two mourning doves always perched.
Their love for each other, their comforting
coo, and their lighthearted flutters showed
me there was hope. There was light at the
                      end of the tunnel.
