Haiku for Every Year of Life

        Solly “Solly” Cohen, Urban Academy

And the echo of the wind follows closely
                   The night of sorrow
                   and silent trees strive fiercely

until the light of another day
Let me not be your wound
but your shield and guardian angel I say

                   A perfect, playful cube swims
                   Dour eventide

                   under the rabbit

But he searches for a long-standing chance
His dreams are a loop of pain and misery
He lives in a ‘bad century’ that he cannot change

                   A streamline crocodile sleeps
                   Ungroomed summertime

                   betrayed by the bear

                                                 into the vampire
                                                Long icy get stuck
                                              A sea, scaly lion calls

There’s a boy on his own

He has no sense of laughter
He’s hardly home and nothing else matters
                                                at the perfect bowl
                                                 Semiarid leaping
                                        A volcanic, bright rock flies
